Groups and Kids

From the large basement kitchen, to the simple toys, to unique clothes and shoes from China, children can imagine what the life of young Pearl S. Buck was like during her West Virginia visits and a world away in rural China.

We offer group and bus tours – for both adults and children – throughout the season. We offer a variety of packages and welcome special requests with advance notice. Contact us for information and scheduling of group tours.

Host an Event

The Pearl S. Buck Birthplace offers a spectacular outdoor venue for weddings, receptions, family reunions, workshops, meetings and other gatherings. Located in the Little Levels of Pocahontas County, West Virginia, 30 miles North of Lewisburg and 11 miles South of Marlinton, the museum offers a beautiful outdoor setting with views of the Monongahela National Forest, open green lawns, and late 19th century buildings. Able to host both intimate settings for small groups or a festive, large-scale outdoor event, we ask that you please consider The Pearl S. Buck Birthplace for your next event.

On the lawn, the natural beauty of the setting creates a wonderful backdrop for weddings and receptions. Electricity is available. This area is accessible to everyone. The lawn is the only area where tents are permitted.

All proceeds from rentals and short-term events support the educational programs and ongoing restoration efforts at the Pearl S. Buck Birthplace.

Did you know?

School groups and youngsters are always welcome at the birthplace. Pearl’s parents sent these Chinese children’s shoes to the Stulting family, thereby giving them an idea of the dress of that eastern nation. School groups can tour the museum at a reduced rate if plans are made in advance.
